Our Snoring & Sleep Apnea Solutions
When you’re not getting the quality sleep you need, everyone suffers. Untreated sleep apnea and snoring can have devastating effects on your health and relationships. They can negatively impact nearly every aspect of your life, and leave you feeling exhausted.
At The CPAP Alternative, we believe that no two patients are the same. Over the years Dr. Winkelmann has selected the most effective oral appliances to treat each patient’s individual needs so you can feel rested, energized, and ready for the day ahead.
Oftentimes, patients who have tried the CPAP machine are disappointed by its restrictions and stop treatment altogether. Unfortunately, untreated sleep apnea can have serious health consequences. With advances in technology, you no longer have to deal with the inconveniences of the CPAP machine and you can enjoy the benefits of quality sleep.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is sleep apnea?
Sleep apnea is a common sleeping disorder that interrupts your breathing overnight. This wakes you up several times throughout the night, preventing you from getting the quality rest you need to function properly. Without treatment, sleep apnea can lead to a wide range of serious health consequences.
How is sleep apnea diagnosed?
Sleep apnea is diagnosed with a sleep study. A sleep study can be performed in the comfort of your own home or in a lab under the supervision of a physician.
With the take-home test, you’ll receive the sleep test equipment from your physician and return it to them after you’ve conducted the test. The equipment will monitor your heart rate and breathing, as well as the oxygen level in your blood.
Once your physician diagnoses you with sleep apnea, Dr. Winkelmann can help you find a treatment option that suits you.
What happens when sleep apnea is left untreated?
If left untreated, sleep apnea can lead to serious health consequences such as heart disease, strokes, high blood pressure, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease. That’s why it’s crucial to seek treatment immediately after getting diagnosed with sleep apnea. Dr. Winkelmann offers a well-rounded treatment approach to tackle your sleep apnea and help you rest through the night.

How does an oral appliance work?
A sleep apnea oral appliance is designed to gently shift your lower jaw forward, expanding the airway and allowing you to breathe freely overnight. It also prevents your tongue from collapsing into the airway and blocking your flow of oxygen. With the help of an oral appliance, you can comfortably manage your sleep apnea and wake up feeling refreshed.
